illustration friday: scary

Illustration Friday's topic for this week is 'Scary', and it's Halloween too!

We do not see what's going on, but I reckon it's pretty scary :)
Maybe you have a fun suggestion what it could possibly be? I might actually draw it later on!

icing on the cake

I have been working on a christmas recipe that will be published in the staff magazine of the company I work for as a day job.
Of course, when it gets published, I'll post it! Here's a little sneek peek.

I am also working on another recipe that will be published in march in the American magazine 'Where Women Cook'. Salli and Nate, who are the founders of the fabulous website www.theydrawandcook.com, have their very own TheyDrawAndCook column in this magazine where they feature 3 women who participated with their recipes on the website. I was invited to be one of them in the March Issue! I am so excited and very proud!

Illustration Friday - Fuel

This weeks topic for Illustration Friday is: 'Fuel'
A drink can be fuel, and if you use a straw, you can fuel it up by blowing bubbles :)

Illustration Friday - scattered

This is not a freshly made illustration, because my activities this week have been scattered all over the place in my agenda ;) It's a drawing I did in September and it will be published in a sponsored yearly christmas magazine with games, puzzles and colouring pictures in it, for children in the hospital. i was asked to make this for a friend who participates as a sponsor.

journal page

Last sunday, I ran the half marathon of Amsterdam.

hand sketch

I'm taking motorcycle lessons. I've wanted it for such a long time and a few weeks ago I finally took the step! During and after the first few lessons somehow I had this nasty ache in my hand. It turns out the gloves I was wearing were too small! Duh.

journal sketches

On friday, coming home often feels like this. Phew, I made it!

Last wednesday, the weather was totally different from the beautiful sunny autumn days we are enjoying here in Holland  now...

just a quick sketch from my journal

Yesterday, my sweetheart came home from a businesstrip. He had been away for over a week and I had missed him!

Illustration Friday - Contraption

This week's topic for Illustration Friday is 'Contraption'. Which means as much as: a mechanical device, a gadget, a (strange) machine or apparatus. I needed to look that up, because I wasn't familiar with the word.
I thought I wouldn't make it to actually sit down for an entry this week, but very last minute: this is what came out

peeking through windows into lit livingrooms

At the end of the day in october when it gets darker, the lights pop on in living rooms. But it might not be dark enough to draw the curtains yet. Suddenly, somewhere between 6 and 7 o'clock, you can have lots of peeks into living room scenes when cycling through Amsterdam. It's fun!
Here's one of those scenes.

It looked like dad was trying to deal with a hungry three year old and a grumpy adolescent who'd rather not join in for the dinner he was preparing for the family right after coming home from a busy day.

sketchbook project, more character sketches

More character sketches appeared this week in my 'sketchbook before The Actual Sketchbook'.
This is the brother who tries to scare his little sister with stories about scary monsters.
If only he knew about his sister's secret friends...

I think he's a Josh, or a Danny.
What name do you think is fitting for this boy who tries to be a bully to his sister, but doesn't quite suceed because she's much cooler than he is?

journal page on a sunny day in october

Last weekend felt like a weekend in July. Indian Summer Surprise!

sketches for the sketchbook project

Some character sketches I did for the sketch book project. It's quite possible that crazy grant aunt Vermillion (this was Timothy Hodges suggestion on my last post about the sketchbook!) is getting a small part in the sketchbook  :)

Sketch - keys

I got a new second hand bike, that is so much better than my old one! Given the fact that I travel a lot by bicycle, it was about time! I made a quick sketch of the keys to much comfortable and fast travelling through the city.
