Illustration Friday - swamp

Illustration Friday's topic is 'Swamp'.
think Molly's back, and she lives near a swamp :) No time to color this one, I'm happy I made it just in time before friday!

can't help it

I can't help it, I need to draw crowds. I promise I'll keep posting other things too...

The Sketchbook Project 2012 digitized

I am super excited because my sketchbook for The 2012 Sketchbook Project has now been digitized! This means it is officially part of the Digital Library, and you can take a look here

I'm also counting the days, because I will actually be there, in New York City, at the opening of The Sketchbook Project 2012 exhibition!

And of course you can buy your very own copy of Millies Marvelous Monsters right here on Etsy!

more crowds

Lately I've developed the regular urge to draw crowds. I love coming back to the drawing to see where I can add more detail. I might have found what I can fill my Sketchbook Limited Edition with!

I love peanuts! Just before I shoved these into my greedy mouth, I decided to draw them. They deserved it. Because they make me happy ;)

Illustration Friday - shades

The topic for illustration friday is 'shades'. Can you find them? Or is it too obvious perhaps? Anyway, I like this drawing a lot, it was fun to doodle the small details and I like the style! Sometimes I am surprised by how effortlessly a drawing can come into existance.
What started out as a doodle on the cover of one of my sketchbooks, resulted in a beautiful cover. It was inspired by the black and white drawing below. The brown color of the cover makes a wonderful contrast with the white details and I finished it off with some color on cheeks and lips.

It sort of absorbed me. At first I made the drawing in pencil, but unfortunately for the progress pics, I didn't scan that fase.

I made this drawing first before I made the one above...
...and then colored it digitaly, but in the end, I like the black pen-version better.

Although I thought I was charged up completely after a two-week-vacation (which seemed wonderfully endless), the flu decided to settle comfortably into my body. Starting with a very painful throat, then lots of sneezing, nose got blocked, my head felt like it would explode and I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my face. Cold shivers, sweaty flushes and weird feverish dreams: it was all there. I hadn't had the flu for years and years... The only thing to do is lie down and sweat it off.
I'm glad I have my Ipod filled with audiobooks, Ian McEwans 'Atonement' helped me through the worst part.
Thankfully the worst part, the fever, didn't last for too long and I am recovering now :)

Enough of the babbling. When I got out of bed and onto the couch, I even managed to make a few drawings.

paper tissues all around me...

Tulip study

My parents put tulips on the table to welcome us after our trip. So sweet.Tonight, I sat down to draw one of them. I decided to try it in color too and that worked out pretty well:

The Versatile Blogger Award!

While I was away, I received an award! It's the Versatile Blogger award and I got it from Anoeska. Thank you so much!

Now Finally, I found the time to admire my award :) and to actually pay it forward.

Now here are the rules, and what I have to do.
1.Add the award to your blog.
2.Thank the blogger(s) who gave it to you.
3.Mention 7 random things about yourself.
4.List the rules.
5.Award to 15 bloggers.
6.Inform each of the 15 by leaving a comment on their blog.

7 random things, huh? Well here they are:

-I am a big fan of coffee, but I'm really picky. Only the best and fresh beans for this coffee snob.
-I drink (a lot!) of herbal tea too. That's probably why I'm so Zen.
-I like pigs. Very much. Because they're so cute. And so smart. And they taste good. and i don't even feel bad about that last bit.
-It often bugs me that there's only 7 days in a week, and only 24 hours in a day. Oh, and only 2 days in a weekend. Sheesh!
-For me, he best shop to be in is the art supply shop.
-I hate it when people in public transport want to get in, before letting other people get out.
-I can watch a movie I've already seen, without realizing that I have. I will deny the comments "yes, you've seen it, I was there with you" with all sorts of "now way!"s and "that must have been someone else!" for the first hour and then slowly some images start to trickle back into my memory. I always admit it though. Isn't that weird, for someone who's so visually focussed?

I believe that was quite random.
Now I've got some work to do tonight and inform the following 15 bloggers about the award I'm giving them (this is fun!):
