Leek as a perfect model - who knew?


Watercolour background washes can give such great effects and a surprise element too.
I did this wash the day before I did the actual journal entry on this page. I simply chose a colour that I liked, and filled the page with the wash, without any clue on what I would draw on it the next day.

Turned out we were making old fashioned, hearty, Dutch split pea soup the next day, and a leek was sticking out of the grocery bag. Looking at it, I loved the colours and shape, and drew it, using colour pencils. Who knew a simple leek could be the prefect model for a drawing?
